ANHC, Arkansas Elementary Schools Party With the LR Zoo

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission - Tuesday, April 30, 2019

In celebration of Earth Day, the Little Rock Zoo recently held a “Party for the Planet” celebration for Arkansas’s elementary students. The ANHC was invited to host a booth at the event, which was attended by over 2,000 students, teachers, and chaperones.

The goal of the event was to help students learn about and engage with the natural world. Elementary school classes and students attended the event, rotating through the booths and the activities offered at each.

The ANHC booth included a clay leaf imprint/fossil activity, an Ozark big-eared bat mask activity, a nature journaling/booklet activity, and a bat-paper airplane activity. ANHC Education and Information Coordinator, Ruthie Berryhill and Administrative Specialist, Emily Barfield attended the event.

The zoo plans to make the celebration an annual event.
