ANHC Will Host National Conference

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission - Thursday, February 26, 2015

The ANHC is preparing to host the 42nd annual conference of the Natural Areas Association (NAA) this fall (November 3-5) in Little Rock. The NAA is a national organization that provides support to those working in fields of natural area conservation and this meeting is one of the nation’s premier gatherings of conservation professionals, educators, and scientists. The ANHC has been actively involved in the NAA since its inception in the early 1970s; however, this will be the first time hosting the national conference in 20 years.

ANHC director Chris Colclasure, who was elected to the NAA board at the national meeting last year, said, “We are excited to show off the Natural State and we think this year’s theme ‘Conservation Through Collaboration’ is best illustrated through all the partners we work with regularly here in Arkansas.”

Recent conferences have had 400 attendees from 33 states and three countries, so all the staff at the ANHC as well as several sister agencies at the Department of Arkansas Heritage are working to make this conference memorable. Stay tuned for updates including some of the nationally renowned speakers invited to the conference.
