Karnes Inducted Into Outdoor Hall of Fame

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission - Thursday, August 31, 2017

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission Vice-Chairman Mark Karnes, of Arkadelphia, was inducted into the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation’s Outdoor Hall of Fame at its annual banquet earlier this month. Karnes has served on the ANHC since 2002.

The Outdoor Hall of Fame recognizes men and women from across the state who have been instrumental in expanding the use and enjoyment of Arkansas’s outdoor resources and broadening conservation education. The Hall of Fame began in 1992 and has inducted 90 members thus far.

Karnes is the director of Operations for the Ross Foundation and has served as member, vice-chairman, and chairman during his tenure on the ANHC. He has worked to create lasting partnerships with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and other agencies to promote hunting and wildlife-associated recreation on the Ross Foundation’s 60,000-acre timber holdings.

Outdoors Hall of Fame nominees are inducted during the banquet, held at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, each August. Proceeds from the banquet support the year-around work of the Foundation.

Congratulations Mark! Your service to the ANHC and to the state of Arkansas is greatly appreciated.
