Snowy Dedication of 71st Natural Area

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission - Tuesday, May 07, 2013

The Devil’s Eyebrow Natural Area was dedicated in a ceremony on Friday, May 3, 2013. The site is the 71st natural area in the System of Natural Areas managed by the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission. With almost 2,000 acres of limestone glades, bluffs, woodlands and forests, this rugged area along the Indian Creek arm of Beaver Lake offers a high biodiversity of plant and animal species. More than 550 plant species have been documented, 25 of which are of state conservation concern, and at least five of which are considered to be of global concern. Preserving this area in a natural state will also help protect the water quality of Beaver Lake, which supplies water to northwest Arkansas.
