Students Learn About Endangered Species and Raise Money for ANHC

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission - Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Fifth grade students from the Think, Research, Explore, and Create (TREC) Center for Gifted Education, in the Bentonville Public School District, studied endangered species of Arkansas as part of a service learning project. The students published a 2016-2017 calendar and donated the proceeds from the sale of the calendar to ANHC.

Students created artwork and wrote captions for each of the researched animals. Each calendar month features a student’s drawing of an endangered animal and a description of the species.

“After investigating many agencies involved in saving endangered species, the class decided to give proceeds from the sale of the calendars to your organization,” Tracy Smart, TREC Gifted and Talented Facilitator, said.
