Volunteer Events Kick-Start New Program

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission - Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Through the work of 20 volunteers, approximately 600 tires were removed from the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission’s (ANHC) Terre Noire Natural Area during two volunteer work days. Davis Rubber Company and the Inter-district Waste Tire Management Program donated the use of a trailer to haul the tires, which will be recycled through their facilities.

A special thanks to all of our volunteers and sponsors, including the Ross Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, Davis Rubber Company, the Inter-district Waste Tire Management Program, and Henderson State University.

ANHC’s next volunteer workday is scheduled for Saturday, May 17 from 10 am to 2 pm at Warren Prairie Natural Area in southern Arkansas. Volunteers will meet at the parking area. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Saturday, May 31.

This workday's focus is to reduce the amount of surface trash on Warren Prairie NA. Plan to wear sturdy boots and clothing that can get dirty and protect you from scratches. Bring a sack lunch and something to drink (we will provide water). More information about this event can be found here.
