2004: Arkansas Tarantula Survey
The Arkansas Tarantula Survey was completed in 2004. A great deal of thanks is owed to all of the "tarantula-watchers" across Arkansas who reported their observations. The data submitted by hundreds of Arkansans has allowed ANHC staff to construct a map of where tarantulas occur in the state; information that did not exist prior to this survey. Such data would have taken years for a team of ecologists to collect, but participants in the survey provided it in just seven months. This information has contributed greatly to our knowledge of these impressive spiders and will serve as a critical baseline for future studies of tarantulas in Arkansas.
