Habitat: Found in mesic-woodlands rooted in silt-loams or loams with a variable sand or clay fraction, and usually in soils pocketed in talus of rich shaded slopes or the rocky, better-drained terraces along the Ouachita Mountain Streams. It typically occurs under rich deciduous forest.

Flowering Date: April - May
Fruiting Date: June

Causes for Concern: Hydrophyllum brownei is restricted to a narrow range in the Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas.

Global Range: Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas.
