Loan Box-Woodpeckers of Arkansas
As part of its ongoing efforts to provide Arkansas-specific information to educators, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission (ANHC) now has a loan box available on woodpeckers of Arkansas (including plenty of information about the exciting Ivory-billed woodpecker).
Use of the loan box is free-of-charge but it should be reserved in advance and loan periods may be limited. The box is not mailed or shipped and must be picked up and returned to the ANHC offices.
BOX CONTENTS INCLUDE:
- Educator's guide with correlations to state frameworks
- Life-sized photograph of Ivory-billed woodpecker mounted on foam board
- Sample paper craft activities with patterns
- Model of a pileated woodpecker skull from Bone Clones company (no birds were killed to make the skull)
- Plastic foot mold-this mold is designed to make a plaster cast model illustrating bluejay tracks and woodpecker tracks and allowing students to compare the woodpecker's zygodactyls toes with other bird feet
- Laminated posters
- Laminated maps
- Books
- Big Woods Bird by Terri Lunea
- Woodpeckers by Cherie Winner
- The Race to Save the Lord God Bird by Phillip Hoose
