Natural Communities of Arkansas Series
Based on requests from educators for information about Arkansas, ANHC identified six major types of natural communities that occur in our state and then contracted with a nature artist to develop custom illustrations of each community with representative plants and animals. These illustrations were then developed into a series of posters.
Each poster contains a 12 X 16 inch, black and white line drawing of the community with a species key and a general description of the plants and animals illustrated. Additional text outlines the characteristics of each natural community and its current status in Arkansas. Additional “Notes on Natural Communities” are also available which include vocabulary words, resources lists and correlations to Arkansas Science Curriculum Frameworks.
Use the links below for more poster details or to download the community image with a key or the "Notes." For more information or to order a poster, email arkansas@naturalheritage.org or call 501.324.9619
