GPS Referenced Trail Maps Guide the Way

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission - Friday, June 28, 2019

If you are planning a hike, nature walk, or canoe trip on one of our natural areas, be sure to check out our new geo-referenced PDF trail maps before you go. You can find the PDFs by visiting the dedicated natural area page on the ANHC website.

Each natural area page has three tabs labeled “Details,” “Gallery,” and “Related Content.” For natural areas with trails, there is a general description of the trail, its length, and difficulty on the Details tab. The trail maps are available in this area under “Download Trail Map.” The trail maps include an outline of the natural area’s boundaries; the trail route designated with GPS coordinates for the trailhead; trail difficulty level and distance; indicators for parking areas; and other related information. See diagram below with arrows indicating where to find the download link using the Byrd Lake NA web page for reference.
